My name is Charles. This is my journey back.
In November 2025, I blacked out in my kitchen.
Atrium Health labs came back that night: A1C 7.2%, Triglycerides 1,761 mg/dL, Blood Pressure 192/114.
Two weeks earlier, on October 28th, I lost my mom. Twelve days later, on November 12th, I got my own numbers. I was 54 years old, and I realized I knew how to help health brands explain complex science in plain English, I’d done it for 25 years behind the scenes, but I wasn’t applying any of it to my own health.
I started documenting everything my doctors and I were learning, in plain English, so I wouldn’t have to piece it together from random videos. Metabolic Clarity Labs grew out of that notebook.

It’s Not Theory. It’s Documented.
I stayed on my physician-prescribed medication and worked with my doctors. I tracked what connected to what, instead of treating each reading as a separate crisis. This is what third-party labs showed:

- A1C 7.2%

- BP 192/114 mmHg
Luxor Scientific Lab • Verified
- A1C 7.2% → 6.5%
- Triglycerides 1,761 → 163 mg/dL
- BP 192/114 → 119/74 mmHg
Labcorp + Luxor • July 13, 2026

The Receipts
The Same Numbers, Thirty Days Apart
Everything above is easy to type. These are the screenshots and photographs behind it, taken as it happened, on physician-prescribed medication and under ongoing physician supervision.
The ER, November 2025. Waiting to find out whether I was having a stroke. This is where the timeline starts.
A1C — 7.2% to 6.5%
November 2025. A1C 7.2%, in the range used to diagnose diabetes.
30-day follow-up. A1C 6.5%. A1C reflects roughly the prior three months, so this was still catching up to the change.
Triglycerides — 1,761 to 163 mg/dL
Atrium Health portal. Triglycerides 1,761 mg/dL. Above 1,000 carries real, immediate medical risk, including pancreatitis. My doctor described my blood as basically gravy.
Luxor Scientific, verified. Triglycerides 163 mg/dL. This is the marker that moved fastest.
Blood Pressure — 192/114 to 119/74 mmHg
The home monitor. One reading in an office is a limited snapshot, which is why I started averaging readings at home instead of trusting any single number.
This is Episode 1 of The Journey Back. Every week I break down one piece of what I learned.

Why I Built It As a Media Company First
Metabolic Clarity Labs is a media company first: video, podcast, and written breakdowns that help you understand what your labs are actually telling you.
Supplements and tools are supporting pieces of a larger system, not the whole story. Education comes first.
How I Organize It — The Four Loads
Everything I teach is organized around four connected loads, not four separate problems to solve in isolation.
01. Glucose Load
How I learned to think about sugar, carbs, and why my energy crashed after meals. Why A1C alone didn’t tell the full story. Read the full guide to Glucose Load →
02. Storage Load
How my body was stuck in storage mode. Why my waist and triglycerides moved together. Read the full guide to Storage Load →
03. Regulatory Load
Why I was wired at 3am, tired at 7am, and why my blood pressure was 192/114. Sleep, stress, and daily rhythm. Read the full guide to Regulatory Load →
04. Inflammatory Load
The background strain that made the other three loads worse. Why recovery was slow. Read the full guide to Inflammatory Load →

What This Site Is, and What It’s Not
I am not a physician. I’m not giving medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
My writing is based on my own documented experience, third-party lab verification, and cited research, plus ongoing physician supervision and prescribed medication.
Your situation is different. Work with your own healthcare team before making changes.
If Your Labs Have Been Scaring You Too
If you’ve looked at your labs and thought “What does this actually mean?”, I wrote The Journey Back for you.
It’s the framework my doctor and I used to make sense of the bigger picture.
You’ll get the book and one plain-English breakdown each week. No random TikToks.
