Dutch Bros is built around sweet, flavored drinks, and the numbers show it. A plain cold brew lists about 3 g of carbohydrate, while a medium blended drink can list more than 100 g, which is more than most full meals. This guide puts the published numbers side by side so you can see what a drink adds before you order, explains the sugar-free options Dutch Bros lists, and gives you a simple way to test your own response with a meter or CGM.
Quick answer: In a medium iced drink, cold brew lists 3 g of carbohydrate, an Americano with cream lists 4 g, and a cold brew with soft top lists 9 g. The sweet espresso drinks list 43 to 67 g, and the blended drinks we found list 100 to 115 g. Dutch Bros says Rebel energy drinks come in a sugar-free form and lists sugar-free flavors you can add. The data for this chain is thinner and less consistent than for most others, so treat every number here as a starting point. This is general education from published nutrition data, not a meal plan, and it does not tell you how your glucose will respond.
How to read the numbers, and why this guide is cautious
The tables use total carbohydrate as listed, because that is the figure on a label. Some apps show “net carbs” (total minus fiber). Whether net carbs are the right number for you is a question for your care team or dietitian, and this guide does not take a side. Our guide to reading carbs on a nutrition label explains total carbs, fiber, and sugars.
Dutch Bros’ own nutrition pages were not reachable from my tools, and FastFoodNutrition.org did not have the chain. The carbohydrate figures here come from Eat This Much, which lists the items but does not cite where the numbers originally came from. A second source, Cheat Day Design (published October 2023 and updated January 2024), lists calories only. When I compared the two, the calories did not always match, and I show that in a table below. Because of this, I limited the guide to the drinks where a number was available and I did not estimate anything.
The low end: cold brew, Americano, and soft top
If your goal is the fewest carbohydrates, the coffee-forward drinks are the place to start. These are listed values for medium iced drinks.
| Drink (medium) | Calories | Total carbs (g) | Sugars (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iced cold brew, black | 15 | 3 | 0 | 1 |
| Iced Americano with cream | 80 | 4 | 2 | 3 |
| Iced cold brew with soft top | 110 | 9 | 5 | 1 |
Per Eat This Much, a nutrition database that lists these items under Dutch Bros Coffee but does not cite an original source or show an update date. Medium size, one serving, no weight or volume given. Dutch Bros’ own nutrition pages were not reachable from my tools. A dash means the page did not list the value. Verify in the Dutch Bros app before you rely on a number.
Two things to notice. First, the soft top, which is a sweet whipped cold foam, takes a black cold brew from 3 g to 9 g. That is still small, but it is three times as much. Second, the Americano with cream lists only 4 g, which is close to a plain coffee with a splash of cream. Our Starbucks guide and Dunkin’ guide show the same pattern: plain coffee and a little cream are near zero, and the syrup is where the carbohydrate comes from.
The sweet espresso drinks
This is where Dutch Bros’ best-known drinks sit. The iced medium versions below list from 43 g to 67 g of carbohydrate.
| Drink (medium) | Calories | Total carbs (g) | Sugars (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iced Mocha | 310 | 43 | 39 | 12 |
| Iced Golden Eagle | 460 | 43 | 39 | 10 |
| Iced 9-1-1 | 350 | 54 | 50 | 6 |
| Iced Vanilla Chai | 350 | 63 | 62 | 7 |
| Iced Caramelizer | 400 | 67 | 57 | 11 |
Per Eat This Much, a nutrition database that lists these items under Dutch Bros Coffee but does not cite an original source or show an update date. Medium size, one serving, no weight or volume given. Dutch Bros’ own nutrition pages were not reachable from my tools. A dash means the page did not list the value. Verify in the Dutch Bros app before you rely on a number.
The Caramelizer lists 67 g with 57 g of sugars, and the Vanilla Chai lists 63 g with 62 g of sugars. Those two numbers say that nearly all of the carbohydrate in the chai is sugar. The Mocha and the Golden Eagle both list 43 g and 39 g of sugars. These are medium drinks at 24 oz, so a small (16 oz) would list less, but I did not find per-size carbohydrate figures for each drink.
Blended drinks
The blended versions are bigger and sweeter, and they list the highest carbohydrate on the menu among the drinks I found.
| Drink (medium) | Calories | Total carbs (g) | Sugars (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blended Annihilator | 630 | 100 | 94 | 19 |
| Blended Caramelizer | 700 | 115 | 103 | 18 |
Per Eat This Much, a nutrition database that lists these items under Dutch Bros Coffee but does not cite an original source or show an update date. Medium size, one serving, no weight or volume given. Dutch Bros’ own nutrition pages were not reachable from my tools. A dash means the page did not list the value. Verify in the Dutch Bros app before you rely on a number.
A blended Annihilator lists 100 g of carbohydrate and a blended Caramelizer lists 115 g. For comparison, the iced Caramelizer lists 67 g, so the blended version of the same drink lists 48 g more. A separate database (the fatsecret Platform API, which does not say whether its data is company or user supplied) lists a plain blended Rebel at 450 calories and 111 g of carbohydrate with 1 g of protein, which fits the same pattern. I did not find a published source for the blended Rebel’s sugar value.
Smoothies, lemonades, and Rebel energy drinks
I could not find carbohydrate numbers for these. The only figures I found were calories, from Cheat Day Design, and they are shown here as listed for medium blended drinks.
| Drink (medium, blended) | Calories | Total carbs (g) |
|---|---|---|
| Blended Rebel Energy | 410 | – |
| Blended Lemonade | 470 | – |
| Strawberry Smoothie | 500 | – |
| Mango Smoothie | 590 | – |
| Green Apple Smoothie | 590 | – |
| Peach Smoothie | 680 | – |
Calories per Cheat Day Design (updated January 2024), which does not cite a specific source. The page lists no carbohydrate, sugar, or protein values. A dash means no value was found. The same page says teas run 80 to 90 calories per drink per the Dutch Bros website, but it does not list tea sizes or carbohydrate.
The calorie numbers alone suggest these drinks are not low in carbohydrate, since fruit smoothies and lemonade get most of their calories from sugar, but I cannot give you a gram figure. Check the Dutch Bros app, which updates when you customize an order.
Where the sources disagree
Where both sources list the same drink, the calories differ. The table below shows each, and I do not know which is current. Different menu versions, recipe changes, or different preparation assumptions could all explain it.
| Drink (medium) | Eat This Much (calories) | Cheat Day Design (calories) |
|---|---|---|
| Iced Caramelizer | 400 | 470 |
| Iced Golden Eagle | 460 | 480 |
| Iced 9-1-1 | 350 | 370 |
| Iced Vanilla Chai | 350 | 350 |
| Blended Annihilator | 630 | 720 |
| Blended Caramelizer | 700 | 780 |
Eat This Much and Cheat Day Design, as listed above. Cheat Day Design does not cite a specific source for its calories. The Vanilla Chai matches; the others differ by 20 to 90 calories.
The gaps run from 0 to 90 calories, and the largest are on the blended drinks. If your numbers matter, assume the higher figure and confirm in the app.
Sugar-free options
This is the most useful thing to know at Dutch Bros if you want a sweet drink with less sugar. Per a Dutch Bros location page, Rebel comes in a sugar-free form, and you can add sugar-free flavors to it. The flavors listed there are white chocolate, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, chocolate macadamia nut, hazelnut, Irish cream, coconut, raspberry, peach, and strawberry. You can read it on the Dutch Bros Rebel page. The page points to a nutrition sheet for caffeine information and does not list carbohydrate or sugar amounts, so I cannot say how many grams a sugar-free Rebel contains.
For espresso drinks, nutrition databases list “zero sugar added” versions of several drinks. The one I could read lists an iced Golden Eagle, zero sugar added, medium, at 370 calories and 29 g of carbohydrate, compared with 43 g for the regular iced Golden Eagle in the other database. Because those two numbers come from different databases and neither cites an original source, I would not read the 14 g gap as exact. The practical advice is to ask your shop what “sugar free” or “zero sugar added” contains, because milk, whipped toppings, and sauces can still carry sugar, and menus differ by location.
Sizes
Size changes the totals, and Dutch Bros sizes are large. Per Cheat Day Design:
| Size | Iced | Hot |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 16 oz | 12 oz |
| Medium | 24 oz | 16 oz |
| Large | 32 oz | 20 oz |
Sizes as listed by Cheat Day Design. Verify in the Dutch Bros app.
A medium iced drink is 24 oz, which is bigger than many people expect. If you pick a sweet drink, a small cuts the volume by a third, but I did not find a per-size carbohydrate table, so I cannot give the exact saving.
A worked example
These four orders use the medium iced and blended carbohydrate figures from the tables above, and the totals were calculated in code.
| Order | Drink (medium) | Total carbs |
|---|---|---|
| A | Iced cold brew with soft top | 9 g |
| B | Iced Caramelizer | 67 g |
| C | Blended Annihilator | 100 g |
| D | Blended Caramelizer | 115 g |
- Order A to Order B: switching from the cold brew with soft top to the iced Caramelizer adds 58 g (67 minus 9).
- Order A to Order C: the blended Annihilator is 91 g more than the cold brew with soft top (100 minus 9).
- Order B to Order D: the blended Caramelizer is 48 g more than the iced Caramelizer (115 minus 67).
The same coffee shop can sell you a drink with 3 g or one with 115 g, and the drink itself is the biggest lever, bigger than anything you order with it.
Test your own order
Published numbers tell you what is in a drink. They do not tell you what it does for you. If you use a meter or a CGM, try one drink on a day when you can keep the rest of your meal and activity steady, and look at your numbers over the next few hours. Our post-meal glucose tracker and CGM reading guide show how. A short walk after eating is another thing people try and track. Do not change a medicine because of one result, and talk to your care team about what range is right for you.
Common mistakes
- Assuming a coffee drink is a coffee. A blended or chai drink can list more carbohydrate than a meal.
- Ordering a medium by default. A medium iced drink is 24 oz.
- Trusting a single number. The two sources here disagree by up to 90 calories on the same drink.
- Treating “sugar free” as “carb free.” Milk, sauces, and toppings can still carry carbohydrate.
- Skipping the app. The app recalculates when you customize, and it is the closest thing to an official number.
Questions to bring to your appointment
- How many grams of carbohydrate should a drink or snack have for me?
- Does caffeine, including energy drinks, affect my plan or my medicines?
- Would a CGM help me learn which drinks work for me?
- Do I need to count sugar alcohols or sweeteners in sugar-free syrups?
Frequently asked questions
What is the lowest-carb drink at Dutch Bros?
Among the drinks with a published number, a medium iced cold brew lists about 3 g of total carbohydrate, and an iced Americano with cream lists about 4 g. These come from a third-party database, so confirm in the Dutch Bros app.
How many carbs are in a Dutch Bros Caramelizer?
A medium iced Caramelizer lists 67 g of carbohydrate with 57 g of sugars, and a medium blended Caramelizer lists 115 g. Another source lists different calories for the same drinks, so treat the figures as approximate and check the app.
Does Dutch Bros have sugar-free options?
Per a Dutch Bros location page, Rebel comes in a sugar-free form and you can add sugar-free flavors, including vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, coconut, raspberry, peach, and strawberry. Nutrition databases also list zero sugar added versions of some espresso drinks. Availability varies by shop, so ask what a sugar-free version contains.
Are Dutch Bros smoothies and lemonades low in carbs?
I could not find carbohydrate numbers for them. The calories listed for medium blended drinks run from 410 to 680, and drinks like these get most of their calories from sugar, but I cannot give you a gram figure. Check the app.
Why do the numbers differ between sources?
Two sources list the same drinks with calories that differ by up to 90 calories. Possible reasons include different menu versions or recipes, but I could not confirm which is current. Use the app, and assume the higher number if your numbers matter.
Does a Dutch Bros drink spike blood sugar?
This guide cannot tell you that, because individual responses vary. The tables show how much carbohydrate a drink lists. To see your own response, test it with a meter or CGM and talk to your care team about what range is right for you.
