Sweetgreen has a reputation as the safe choice, and some of its salads and bowls really are lower in carbohydrate than a burger and fries. But the menu also has warm plates and wraps that list 64 to 110 g of carbohydrate, and bottled drinks that list as much as 32 g. If you manage blood sugar, the gap between a good order and a heavy one is large, and it is not always the one you would guess from the word “salad.” This guide uses Sweetgreen’s own published nutrition numbers to compare the menu, then builds four example orders.
Quick answer: On Sweetgreen’s nutrition page, Kale Caesar lists 18 g of carbohydrate, and Chicken Pesto Parm lists 30 g. At the other end, the Chicken Jalapeño Ranch wrap lists 110 g, and the warm plates list 66 to 95 g. A bottled juice or lemonade can add 20 to 32 g (Ginger Greens lists 32 g), while sparkling waters list 0 to 1 g. In our four example orders, the same restaurant produced totals from 21 g to 169 g. The biggest levers are the menu category (salad, bowl, warm plate, or wrap), the grain and bread, the crunchy and sweet toppings, and the drink. This is general education, not medical advice, and not a recommendation for any carbohydrate target.
How to read these numbers
Unlike most chains we have covered, Sweetgreen’s own nutrition page was readable, so every number in this guide comes from Sweetgreen directly, not from a third-party database. A few things to know:
- It lists finished menu items, not ingredients. The page gives nutrition for whole salads, bowls, plates, wraps, sides, and drinks. It has an ingredient list but gives no nutrition values for individual ingredients like the grains, proteins, toppings, or dressings. That means we cannot tell you what a scoop of quinoa or a serving of a particular dressing contributes, and we will not guess.
- Dressings. The page does not say whether dressings are included in the listed values. Treat that as unknown and check the app.
- Dates. The page itself said “Last updated September 2026,” while a search result for the same page was labeled July 2026. We could not tell which is current, which is one more reason to confirm in the app.
- Location and rotation. The page says values may vary by location. Menu items rotate with the season, and some items are only sold in certain places (the page marks the Boston-only and select-location items). Some items in this guide may not be on your local menu.
- Not cross-checked. We read one source and did not confirm these figures against a second one. Third-party databases for Sweetgreen are mostly user-submitted and we did not use them.
Salads
Salads are the lowest-carbohydrate category on the menu, but the spread inside the category is wide: 18 g to 54 g.
| Item | Calories | Carbs (g) | Fiber (g) | Sugars (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Molly’s Pickle Caesar Salad | 665 | 36 | 10 | 10 | 33 |
| Chicken Sesame Crunch Salad | 615 | 54 | 9 | 21 | 35 |
| Buffalo Chicken (salad) | 580 | 30 | 8 | 12 | 37 |
| Super Green Goddess | 465 | 36 | 13 | 8 | 12 |
| Kale Caesar | 545 | 18 | 5 | 5 | 41 |
| Hummus Crunch | 505 | 42 | 10 | 12 | 21 |
| Guacamole Greens | 555 | 35 | 12 | 12 | 29 |
Numbers from Sweetgreen’s own nutrition page (sweetgreen.com/nutrition), which showed “Last updated September 2026” when we read it on October 31, 2026. Values are per serving as prepared and may vary by location. The page does not say whether dressings are included. Menus rotate, so verify in the Sweetgreen app before you rely on any figure.
Kale Caesar lists the lowest carbohydrate at 18 g and the highest protein at 41 g. Chicken Sesame Crunch lists 54 g and 21 g of sugars, three times the carbohydrate of the Kale Caesar, even though both are salads with chicken. The page does not break down why, but the name suggests crunchy toppings and a sweet dressing, which fits the 21 g of sugars. Super Green Goddess lists 36 g of carbohydrate with 13 g of fiber, so more of that total comes with fiber than in most items here. We take no position on net carbs, and your care team can tell you whether that framing makes sense for you.
Bowls
| Item | Calories | Carbs (g) | Fiber (g) | Sugars (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken Pesto Parm | 510 | 30 | 6 | 3 | 38 |
| Steak Honey Crunch | 605 | 43 | 5 | 16 | 32 |
| Omega Glow | 710 | 48 | 7 | 10 | 31 |
| Shroomami | 665 | 51 | 11 | 7 | 20 |
| Chicken Avocado Ranch | 725 | 55 | 13 | 9 | 28 |
| Mediterranean Market (Boston only) | 675 | 54 | 10 | 11 | 44 |
| Harvest Bowl | 760 | 60 | 10 | 12 | 40 |
| Crispy Rice Bowl | 680 | 61 | 8 | 9 | 33 |
| Autumn Harvest Bowl | 900 | 71 | 13 | 17 | 39 |
Numbers from Sweetgreen’s own nutrition page (sweetgreen.com/nutrition), which showed “Last updated September 2026” when we read it on October 31, 2026. Values are per serving as prepared and may vary by location. The page does not say whether dressings are included. Menus rotate, so verify in the Sweetgreen app before you rely on any figure.
Bowls list 30 to 71 g. Chicken Pesto Parm is the lowest at 30 g with 38 g of protein and 3 g of sugars. The Harvest Bowl and Autumn Harvest Bowl list 60 and 71 g, and the Crispy Rice Bowl lists 61 g. The pattern is that bowls built around a grain, rice, or sweet roasted ingredients cost more carbohydrate than bowls built around greens and protein. Steak Honey Crunch lists 16 g of sugars out of 43 g of carbohydrate, so honey in the name is doing real work. All of these are listed as full servings, and the page does not say how many people they are meant to feed.
Warm plates
| Item | Calories | Carbs (g) | Fiber (g) | Sugars (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steak Mezze | 755 | 76 | 3 | 5 | 34 |
| Hot Honey Chicken | 845 | 66 | 7 | 17 | 49 |
| Miso Glazed Salmon | 880 | 77 | 12 | 9 | 34 |
| Caramelized Garlic Steak | 770 | 82 | 8 | 4 | 34 |
| Maple Glazed Salmon Plate | 875 | 87 | 8 | 14 | 31 |
| Mezze Medley (Boston only) | 875 | 95 | 9 | 15 | 35 |
Numbers from Sweetgreen’s own nutrition page (sweetgreen.com/nutrition), which showed “Last updated September 2026” when we read it on October 31, 2026. Values are per serving as prepared and may vary by location. The page does not say whether dressings are included. Menus rotate, so verify in the Sweetgreen app before you rely on any figure.
This is the heaviest category outside the wraps. Every warm plate lists 66 g or more, and they range from 755 to 880 calories. The plates are the easiest place to underestimate: a plate of salmon or steak sounds like protein and vegetables, but these list 66 to 95 g of carbohydrate, which likely reflects a grain or starchy base. The page does not give an ingredient breakdown, so we cannot say which part contributes what. One thing worth noting: the page states that the salmon marinade temporarily contains wheat (gluten), a reminder that sauces and marinades can change the numbers.
Wraps
| Item | Calories | Carbs (g) | Fiber (g) | Sugars (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Chicken Caesar (wrap) | 990 | 64 | 2 | 5 | 47 |
| Cali Chicken Club (wrap) | 1285 | 73 | 12 | 4 | 49 |
| Molly’s Big Dill Caesar (wrap) | 1080 | 74 | 5 | 8 | 36 |
| Chicken Jalapeno Ranch (wrap) | 1320 | 110 | 5 | 18 | 41 |
Numbers from Sweetgreen’s own nutrition page (sweetgreen.com/nutrition), which showed “Last updated September 2026” when we read it on October 31, 2026. Values are per serving as prepared and may vary by location. The page does not say whether dressings are included. Menus rotate, so verify in the Sweetgreen app before you rely on any figure.
Wraps list 64 to 110 g and 990 to 1,320 calories. The Chicken Jalapeño Ranch wrap lists 110 g of carbohydrate, the highest of any item on the page, along with 18 g of sugars. The same restaurant’s Kale Caesar lists 18 g. If you are choosing between a wrap and a salad with the same protein, the page suggests the salad carries a fraction of the carbohydrate.

Values are per serving as prepared and may vary by location. The page does not say whether dressings are included. Menus rotate, so verify in the Sweetgreen app before you rely on any figure.
Molly’s Double Chick Scoop lists 3 g of carbohydrate and 34 g of protein, which makes it a way to add protein without adding much carbohydrate. The roasted Brussels sprouts list 23 g of carbohydrate with 12 g of sugars, which is more sugar than you might expect from a vegetable side, and we are reading that number as listed without being able to explain it. The bread and tortilla sides list 34 to 51 g, and chips list 23 to 27 g. Adding a bread or chips to a meal can add as much carbohydrate as an entire Kale Caesar.

Most of the juices and lemonades list 20 to 32 g of carbohydrate, almost all of it sugars. Ginger Greens lists 32 g and 22 g of sugars, and the Sweetgreen Lemonade lists 27 g. The two OLIPOP sodas list 16 g of carbohydrate with 9 g of fiber, and Spindrift sparkling waters list 0 to 1 g. Many of these are only sold at select locations. Note that the OLIPOP fiber numbers look high next to the sugars, and we are repeating them as listed.
Four example orders, with the math
These example orders add up the listed values for finished items. They are illustrations, not recommendations, and your real order may differ from the listed serving.
| Order | Items | Carb math | Calories | Sugars |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Order A: salad plus protein side | Kale Caesar + Molly’s Double Chick Scoop + Spindrift Lemon | 18 + 3 + 0 = 21 g | 933 | 5 g |
| Order B: bowl plus vegetable side | Chicken Pesto Parm + Roasted Brussels + Spindrift Raspberry Lime | 30 + 23 + 1 = 54 g | 885 | 16 g |
| Order C: grain bowl, bread, and lemonade | Harvest Bowl + Rosemary Focaccia + Sweetgreen Lemonade | 60 + 34 + 27 = 121 g | 1090 | 35 g |
| Order D: wrap, chips, and a bottled drink | Chicken Jalapeno Ranch (wrap) + Siete Sea Salt Potato Chips + Ginger Greens | 110 + 27 + 32 = 169 g | 1650 | 40 g |
The same restaurant produced totals from 21 g to 169 g, a gap of 148 g between Order A and Order D. In Order D, the drink alone contributes 32 g. Swapping the Ginger Greens for a Spindrift Lemon brings that order from 169 g to 137 g, which is still the highest of the four because the wrap and chips carry most of the carbohydrate. In Order C, the lemonade contributes 27 g of the 121 g total, and the focaccia adds 34 g.
Common mistakes
- Assuming “salad” means low carbohydrate. The salads on the page list 18 to 54 g, so the name does not tell you which end you are at.
- Ignoring the drink. A bottled juice or lemonade can match the carbohydrate of a side dish.
- Adding bread or chips by habit. The focaccia lists 34 g and a bag of chips lists 23 to 27 g.
- Trusting a name. Items called “honey” or “crunch” list noticeably more sugars than their neighbors.
- Skipping the app. Dressings and customizations change the total, and the page does not break them out. Check the app or the website for your exact order.
- Treating one order as a rule. The listed numbers are for one serving as prepared, and your location may differ.
A simple way to order
- Start with the category. On this menu, salads list the least carbohydrate, bowls come next, and warm plates and wraps list the most.
- Look at the sugars column, not just the carbohydrate. A big gap between two similar items often comes from sweet toppings.
- Choose the drink last, and compare it to the rest of the meal.
- Check the app for your exact customized order before you pay.
If you use a CGM, you can see for yourself what a given order does. Our post-meal glucose tracker and guide to reading CGM data show how to compare meals, and a short walk after eating is something many people try.
